AMRITSAR, Sept. 30 -- The Shiromani Akali Dal has expelled its joint secretary and senior woman wing leader Roop Kaur Sandhu from the party's primary membership after she announced that she will "expose more cases similar to the one involving SGPC member Amarjit Singh Chawla". The expulsion was announced by Istri Akali Dal president Hargobind Kaur, who cited repeated acts of "indiscipline and misconduct" as the rationale behind the decision. Kaur noted that the disciplinary action was finalised after thorough consultation with the party's senior leadership. The move follows a series of public statements by Sandhu. On September 19, she brought a woman from Bahrain before the media to reiterate allegations from an FIR filed against Chawla.
