Chandigarh, Aug. 22 -- The Chandigarh tourism department has launched an online application facility for residents seeking approval under the Bed & Breakfast (B&B) policy, allowing citizens to register their establishments and apply for categorisation as Silver or Gold properties through the department's website. Under the new online system, applicants will have to submit detailed information about their proposed Bed & Breakfast establishments, including ownership details, location, infrastructure, facilities and compliance with local regulations. Residents applying under the scheme will have to provide basic particulars such as the name of the establishment, category applied for (Silver or Gold), name of the owner or authorised manager, complete postal address, contact details, email address and other establishment-related information. The application form requires applicants to specify the distance of their establishment from key locations, including the airport, railway station, main shopping centre, city centre and the nearest bus stand or scheduled city bus stop. Applicants will also have to upload proof of ownership of the property, such as copies of sale deeds or lease deeds, along with documents related to approval of building plans and permitted use from local authorities. The form also seeks details regarding the occupancy certificate of the building, whether any violation or show-cause notice is pending against the property, and the width of the road on which the establishment is located. For assessing the suitability of the property, applicants will have to provide details of the plot area and covered area in square metres, number of rooms available, number of single and double beds, and the number of rooms with attached bathrooms and toilets that will be offered for guests. Details of common areas and facilities available at the establishment will also have to be submitted. Applicants will be required to mention parking availability within the premises and nearby areas, additional facilities provided, and details of fire safety arrangements, including firefighting equipment and hydrants. The department has also sought proof of the LTDS-III category electricity meter, details of the type of food to be provided to guests, room tariffs and any suggestions or comments from applicants....
