Robbery plot foiled, 6 held with arms
AMRITSAR, May 16 -- Gurdaspur Police on Friday claimed to have foiled a robbery and arrested six accused, recovering a .30-bore pistol with a magazine, four live cartridges and other weapons.
The accused were identified as Yusuf Masih, Malook Masih, Kamaljeet, Hani, Mehakpreet Singh and Sandeep Masih.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Aditya said acting on a specific tip-off received on May 14, a police team reached near Madiya village, where the suspects were sitting in a car bearing a Punjab registration number.
"The accused were planning a robbery. The police team swiftly intercepted the vehicle and apprehended all six occupants. During the search, officers recovered one .30-bore pistol with a magazine, four live cartridges, a baseball bat, a kirpan and a datar (dagger) from their possession," he added.
A case was registered at the Dinanagar police station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. "Further investigation is underway. Some of the accused have a prior criminal record, including cases related to attempt to murder, the Arms Act and the NDPS Act registered against them," the SSP added. HTC...
