Jaipur, Feb. 28 -- Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has said that he did not resign from the post due to ill health, but took the step to "prioritise" his health. "I have never been negligent to my health. But, I have never said that I was not well when I resigned. I said my health is good, but I am prioritising it as it should be," he said during an event in Sadulpur area of Churu district in Rajasthan on Thursday. Dhankhar, 74, announced his resignation around 9pm on July 21, in an unprecedented move that came after he presided over the first day of the monsoon session in the Rajya Sabha. In his resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar had said, "To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution." "I extend my deepest gratitude to Your Excellency - the Hon'ble President of India for her unwavering support...," the resignation letter added. The Opposition has alleged that Dhankhar quit under government pressure for acknowledging an Opposition-promoted notice for the impeachment of high court judge Yashwant Varma. htc...
