Dharamshala, May 22 -- Heatwave conditions persisted at isolated places in Una, Bilaspur, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts as mercury stayed above three to five degrees above normal due to dry weather. Una remained the hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 44.3degC. It was followed by Neri and Bilaspur at 41degC and Sundernagar at 39.9degC. Mandi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.8 degrees Celsius, while Nahan registered 38.7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures also remained above normal at many stations. However, the IMD has predicted light showers across state on May 22 and 23. Rainfall activity is also expected to continue in the higher and mid-hill regions of the state on May 24 and 25. The weather office has also issued an orange alert for thunderstorms, lightning, hail and gusty winds in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla districts on May 22. Key tourist destinations such as Shimla, Dharamshala, and Manali recorded maximum temperatures of 30.5degC, 36degC, and 28.6degC, respectively.
