Radio station launched for Barnala jail inmates
Barnala, July 15 -- A radio station was launched at the Barnala jail by the district administration, in association with the District Red Cross Society, officials said on Tuesday.
The Radio Station Ujala, aimed at promoting the mental well-being of inmates and undertrials, was inaugurated by district and sessions judge Anshul Berry and deputy commissioner Harpreet Singh.
The DC, who is also the president of the District Red Cross Society, said the Rs.3.5-lakh project has been designed as a platform for recreation, learning and self-expression to create a more positive and engaging environment in the jail.
He said speakers have been installed in every barrack and common area for playing music and informative programmes. Besides, inmates will also have an opportunity to showcase their talent by reciting poems, sharing motivational thoughts, singing songs and even hosting programmes as radio jockeys....
