Chandigarh, May 18 -- An unidentified person threw a pup into a tandoor, killing it near Bapu Dham Colony in Sector 26 on Saturday, police said. Officials said Sanjay, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, mentioned in his complaint that he noticed the man walking with a pup in his hands near Nurani Dhaba at 1.40 am. He threw the animal, appearing to be nearly one-year-old, into the tandoor and ran away. Sanjay tried to save it, but to no avail. He buried it near Sukhna Choe and informed the police. A case has been registered under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animal) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sector 26 police station. Officials said CCTV footage was being scanned to identify the accused. The animal's corpse has been sent for a postmortem examination....
