Batala, May 31 -- Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Saturday visited the residence of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Joga Singh, who was shot dead in Amritsar on May 24, at Ghaniye Ke Bangar village in Batala. Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the DGP said, "ASI Joga Singh made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, exemplifying the highest traditions of Punjab Police through his courage, dedication and selfless service. His sacrifice will always be remembered with pride and honour." Having joined the Punjab Police force as a constable in 1989, ASI Joga Singh, 54, was currently posted with the traffic staff of Amritsar Commissionerate Police. He leaves behind his mother, wife, a son and a daughter. Yadav, while extending his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, assured the family that Punjab Police stood firmly beside them in this difficult time and will extend every possible support. Those responsible for this heinous crime will be brought to justice, he affirmed.
