Privilege notices against Rahul, response sought
New Delhi, Aug. 15 -- Two separate notices for breach of privilege and contempt of the House were filed against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs Anurag Thakur and Sanjay Jaiswal for his remarks against home minster Amit Shah during the debate on the anti-paper leak bill.
In his letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Thakur alleged Gandhi used "unparliamentary and derogatory language and levelling grave and unsubstantiated allegations" against Shah.
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha secretariat has sought a response from Gandhi by August 28.
"I am to request you kindly to furnish your reply/comments in the matter by 28 August, 2026 for the kind consideration of the Hon'ble Speaker, Lok Sabha," a letter by the joint secretary of the privileges committee of the Lok Sabha said....
