President Murmu arrives in Shimla
Shimla, April 28 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Monday arrived in Shimla for a five-day visit to the state during which she is scheduled to visit the Atal Tunnel and attend a banquet at the Lok Bhavan here.
She landed at the Kalyani helipad in Chharabra, about 14 kms from the state capital and was received by Himachal governor Kavinder Gupta and chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, along with other dignitaries, She then went to Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra.
On April 28, Murmu will participate in an event at Lok Bhawan. On April 29, she will visit the Atal Tunnel. On April 30, the President will attend the convocation ceremony at the Palampur Agriculture University in Kangra district. Before her scheduled return to Delhi, on May 1, the President will visit the Army Training Command Centre in Shimla.
As per established practice, the President undertakes an annual five-day visit to Shimla, officially designated as the Summer Sojourn.
About 1,000 police personnel have been deployed in Shimla for the President's visit and the city has been divided into three sectors for regulating the traffic movement, officials said....
