Poonia oversees drug yatra planning, Chadha, Mittal attend meet
Chandigarh, Sept. 11 -- Ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party's proposed anti-drug yatras,party's national general secretary and Punjab affairs in-charge Dr Satish Poonia on Thursday held a series of marathon meetings at the party headquarters here.
The BJP is set to organise 12-day anti-drug yatras across all 117 assembly constituencies in the state from September 18 to 30.
The Chandigarh meeting, for the first time, was attended by Rajya Sabha members Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, who jumped ship from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the BJP in April. Rajya Sabha membersSatnam Sandhu was also in attendance.
Poonia, who has asked the state leadership to resolve internal differences and strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level, emphasised the need for effective coordination, detailed planning and strong organisational preparedness to ensure that the "Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra" reached every section of society and conveyed the party's message against the drug menace across Punjab.
The proposed yatra is being planned as a major BJP campaign against the drug menace in Punjab, an issue the party is expected to make a key part of its electoral campaign.
