Police attach properties worth Rs.6 crore of 3 drug smugglers in Srinagar
Srinagar, May 17 -- Police on Saturday attached properties worth Rs.6 crore of notorious drug peddlers under the 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan' and demolished an illegal structure in Kulgam.
Police said that continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities under the ongoing 'Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan', Srinagar police have attached three immovable properties along with one vehicle belonging to three drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said in a joint operation along with revenue authorities, an illegal structure of drug peddler was demolished at Sopat in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.
Police on Saturday attached property of a proclaimed offender in Sopore. This is the third property belonging to proclaimed offenders that have been attached in Sopore in the last three days.
Police termed it as a sustained crackdown on the terror ecosystem in Sopore and its adjoining areas. All the properties belonged to militants affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
Police said that the attached immovable property of a proclaimed offender involved in Case FIR No. 02/2008 registered at Police Station Panzalla under Section 2/3 of the E&IMCO Act.
"The proclaimed offender has been identified as Rasid-ud-Din Qureshi of Nadihal, Rafiabad. Investigations have revealed that the accused had illegally crossed over to Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir for obtaining illegal arms and ammunition training and is linked with the banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen. He is presently operating in coordination with the Hizbul terror network from Pakistan," the police spokesman said....
