Chandigarh, June 10 -- In an important step towards launching organ transplant services at Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, a multidisciplinary team of doctors and nursing officers is undergoing specialised training at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. The training is being conducted through the Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) North and aims to equip the Patiala hospital with the expertise required to establish a renal transplant programme. Two nursing officers are attending a two-week renal transplant coordinator training programme, while other nursing staff are undergoing an intensive one-week transplant training module under the supervision of Dr Sarbpreet Singh, additional professor, renal transplant surgery, PGIMER.
