CHANDIGARH, Sept. 24 -- Revenue patwaris in Punjab have called off their strike after the state government agreed in principle to accept their key demands, including restoring the patwari cadrefrom the state level to the district level. The decision was announced following a meeting between chief minister Bhagwant Mann and a delegation of the Revenue Patwar Union on Wednesday. The CM also directed officials to initiate the process for recruiting more than 1,000 patwaris, saying the move would provide relief to the public and ensure that routine administrative work does not suffer.
