Tanda (Hoshiarpur), April 20 -- Punjab food and civil supplies minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Sunday visited the local grain market here to inspect wheat procurement and said 24 lakh tonnes of wheat has been procured to date across the state. "More than 28 lakh tonnes of wheat has arrived to date in the district mandis across the state, of which over 24 lakh tonnes has been procured," the minister said, who was accompanied by local MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill. The minister asked the representatives of the procurement agencies and concerned officers to ensure flawless procurement operations. "To date, since the start of procurement operations on April 1, more than Rs.647 crore had been disbursed into the accounts of the farmers at the minimum support price of Rs.2,585,"the minister added....
