Rudrapur, March 28 -- A 29-year-old man died and eight others were injured after the bus they were travelling in toppled near Gethiya in Nainital district on Friday, police said. The bus, belonging to the Kumaon Motor Owners Union (KMOU), was travelling from Haldwani to Didihat in Pithoragarh district when the accident occurred around 7 am. The bus had 14 passengers besides the driver and conductor, police said. As the vehicle reached near a temple in Khupi on the Jeolikot-Bhowali road, the driver allegedly lost control and the bus overturned on the road. Villagers from nearby areas informed the police and began rescue efforts before emergency teams reached the spot. Tallital police station in-charge Manoj Nayal said police personnel and a team of the state disaster response force (SDRF) rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. "The accident took place around 7 am. We reached the spot along with the SDRF team and started the rescue operation. One person, identified as Sonu Kumar, died on the spot while the injured were shifted to hospitals in Haldwani and Bhowali," Nayal said....
