Hoshiarpur, June 23 -- Nominations for Hoshiarpur municipal corporation elections, scheduled for July 5, commenced on Monday with five candidates filing their papers with the respective returning officers. All belonged to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). SAD halqa in-charge Sanjiv Talwar said 16 candidates had gone to file papers but due to administrative inadequacies, only five could submit their papers. Nearly 1.34 lakh people are registered as voters in the city's 50 wards. As many as 19 wards are reserved for general women, six for Scheduled Caste and two for Backward Class candidates. SAD has announced a list of 35 candidates whereas Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress are yet to declare their nominees.HTC...
