AMRITSAR, June 6 -- A Nihang youth identified as Deepinder Singh was killed and three others were seriously injured after a minor dispute over giving way to a vehicle escalated into a shootout between two groups in Batala on Friday. The incident occurred near Symbol Chowk on the busy Batala-Gurdaspur Road. According to preliminary information, the verbal altercation soon turned violent, with members of both groups allegedly opening fire at each other using their licensed firearms. During the exchange of gunfire, Deepinder was shot and died on the spot. Three other youths suffered gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition. SSP Mehtab Singh said preliminary findings indicated the incident was a fallout of road rage.
