Chandigarh, Sept. 30 -- The city's minimum temperature dropped to 19degC on Tuesday, the lowest recorded for a September night in at least 14 years, after the city received 9.4 mm of rain on Monday. The minimum fell three notches from 22.1degC on Monday. India MeteorologicalDepartment's Chandigarh director Surender Paul said the drop in temperature followed Monday's rain and snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh. "Cool winds continued to blow at night," he said, adding that this contributed to the further drop in the night temperature. The cooler nights are unlikely to persist from Tuesday,Paul said. Clear skies are expected in the coming days, pushing temperatures up. While daytime temperatures will remain warm, nights are likely to retain some chill because of the clear skies. The effect is expected to become more pronounced in the coming weeks as autumn sets in. The change was already evident on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature rising to 32.8degC from 25.4degC on Monday, which was normal for the day. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 32degC and 34degC, while the minimum is likely to stay between 23degC and 24degC....
