Karnal, Oct. 11 -- The Kurukshetra police on Saturday arrested a news channel's managing director among five journalists for allegedly broadcasting a six-month-old video-originally recorded during a private dispute between two individuals-as a "live sting operation". A police spokesperson said the arrests were made from different locations, including the channel's office in Chandigarh. Superintendent of police (SP) Chander Mohan said the complainant, a resident of Kurukshetra, alleged that the channel presented his old (personal) video shot on April 16 as a fake live sting operation on drug menace. An FIR has been registered at the Thanesar City police station under the IT Act and other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, he said, adding that those involved in creating and spreading fake videos will be dealt with strictly.
