Nearly 30 candidates to face panel from July 3
Chandigarh, June 27 -- Nearly 30 shortlisted candidates are set to appear before Panjab University (PU)'s search-cum-selection committee for the vice-chancellor (V-C)'s post, with interviews scheduled on July 3 and 6.
After the interviews, the field will be narrowed further to a final panel of three to five names to be recommended to the Chancellor.
The committee had earlier written to applicants seeking details of research projects undertaken, publications, patents granted and PhD scholars guided-parameters on which candidates would be evaluated.
The all-women, three-member committee is chaired by Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar (retd), V-C of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, with Shashikala Wanjari, V-C of NIEPA, New Delhi, and Vibha Tandon, director of CSIR Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, as members.
The interviews come with a ticking clock - incumbent V-C Renu Vig's extended tenure ends on July 29. She was granted a four-month extension on March 28, a day before her original term was to end, with the search committee constituted simultaneously.
Over 100 applications were received for the post and the deadline closed on May 5....
