Bathinda, July 17 -- National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar on Thursday expressed concern over rising drug menace in Punjab, observing that women often bore the greatest burden of its consequences. During her visit to Bathinda, Rahatkar urged people to adopt the message: "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life". She conducted a public hearing as part of the "National Commission for Women at your doorstep" series. She heard cases related to domestic violence, dowry harassment, sexual offences, suicide and other women-related issues. Rahatkar said derogatory language, character assassination and insensitive behaviour towards women were unacceptable, and called upon all government departments to adopt a sensitive and accountable approach while dealing with matters related to women.
