Chandigarh, March 4 -- Despite standard operating procedures (SOPs issued by the university barring Holi celebrations at the Student Centre, Panjab University witnessed low-key and dispersed festivities on campus a day ahead of the festival on Wednesday. Small groups of students were seen applying colours at different points around the campus and, as permitted under the SOPs, within their respective academic departments. However, the university maintained that no official event was allowed at the Student Centre. Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig reiterated that a complete ban on celebrations at the Student Centre was in place.,"We had not allowed any formal celebration at the Student Centre. Necessary SOPs were issued in advance," she said, adding that security personnel were deployed to monitor the situation on the day prior and will be on the day of holi as well....
