Mohali: 100 litres alcohol seized from unlicensed bar
Mohali, Aug. 13 -- Excise officials of the Ropar Range, along with the district police, on Wednesday, conducted a raid at The Brew Barrels in Phase 5, Mohali, after receiving credible information that the establishment was allegedly serving liquor without a valid licence.
The raid was conducted by a team led by excise officer Rajnish Batra, excise inspector Karandeep Singh and Gurinderpal Singh. During the operation, officials found the bar operating in violation of licensing norms and seized 100 litres of beer from the premises. Assistant commissioner (excise), Ropar Range, Ashok Chalotra said the department had adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards the illegal sale and service of liquor under the guidance and directions of the excise commissioner (Punjab) Jitender Jorwal.
He said strict action would be taken against establishments found violating licensing provisions and enforcement drives would continue across Ropar and Mohali districts to curb the unlicensed liquor trade and safeguard government revenue.
Chalotra also directed field officers to remain vigilant against similar violations and said strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to evade government revenue.
