Mercury rises to 40.7degC, may cross 41degC today
Chandigarh, June 28 -- The city's maximum temperature continued its upward trend, reaching 40.7degC on Saturday, 4.4 degrees above normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the mercury is likely to rise further and cross 41degC on Sunday.
The maximum temperature increased from 40.2degC on Friday to 40.7degC on Saturday.
Earlier this month, the city recorded a high of 42.1degC on June 9.
Despite the rising temperatures, the IMD has predicted chances of light rain in the city due to high humidity, which reached 71% on Saturday.
The minimum temperature also rose from 26.3degC on Friday to 26.8degC on Saturday, which is normal for this time of the year.
Over the next three days, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 39degC and 41degC, while the minimum is likely to hover between 25degC and 26degC....
