MC sensitises students on waste segregation
Chandigarh, Aug. 26 -- The Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) organised a 'Swachhta Ki Karyashala' at Mount Carmel School, Sector 47, Chandigarh, to sensitise students about cleanliness, waste segregation and responsible waste management.
During the workshop, held under the supervision of Dr Inderdeep Kaur, medical officer of health (MOH) and officials of the Chandigarh MC, students explained about the importance of segregating waste at source and adopting the four-bin system at home.
The students were informed about the proper use of different bins for wet waste, dry waste, sanitary waste and other categories of waste, along with the importance of ensuring that waste is disposed of in the appropriate manner.
Through interactive activities and practical demonstrations, the students were encouraged to understand the importance of keeping their homes, schools and surroundings clean. The officials also highlighted the role of children and young citizens in creating awareness about cleanliness within their families and communities.
The students were also encouraged to avoid single-use plastic and opt for reusable cloth bags and environmentally friendly alternatives....
