Mohali, Oct. 15 -- The municipal corporation has approved Rs.10 lakh for replacing a sewer line in Phase 10, alongside a package of civic works covering newly merged villages and urban areas. The decisions were taken at a meeting of the finance and contract committee, chaired by mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana, on Wednesday. The committee further sanctioned Rs.40 lakh for winter uniforms for fire brigade personnel. Municipal commissioner Sundeep Singh Garha and other officials attended the meeting. The committee cleared the recruitment of 20 employees and purchase of a vehicle for the tehbazari wing to strengthen action against encroachments. A van for catching stray dogs was also approved. The committee also sanctioned Rs.7 crore for installing tubewells in villages to tackle drinking water shortages. The projects, each costing between Rs.54 lakh and Rs.58 lakh, will cover areas including Landran, Lakhnour, Mauli Baidwan, Bariyali, Balongi, Ballomajra and Chhappar Chiri.
