Chandigarh, June 13 -- To address Chandigarh's parking challenges, mayor Saurabh Joshi, along with chief architect Rajiv Kumar Mehta and municipal corporation's chief engineer Sanjay Arora, visited New Delhi to study the multi-level parking projects developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The visit was undertaken on the directions of the UT administrator for identifying sustainable and modern parking solutions for the city. The delegation inspected state-of-the-art parking facilities at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Sarojini Nagar, Greater Kailash-I and other locations, while also holding discussions with officials of various departments in Delhi to get details of the planning, implementation and financial viability of such projects. The delegation examined robotic parking systems, mechanised parking solutions, smart parking management technologies and various PPP-based implementation models. Mayor Saurabh Joshi said the city must adopt innovative and technology-driven parking infrastructure amid the increasing number of vehicles.
