Manimajra Man caught with country-made pistol, 2 bullets
Chandigarh, April 16 -- The UT police arrested a resident of New Indira Colony, Manimajra, after recovering a country-made pistol (katta) and two live cartridges from him.
According to police, Rahul was arrested near the Timber Market parking in Sector 26, Chandigarh on Tuesday.
The accused was booked under the Arms Act at the Sector 26 police station. Police officials said he was previously involved in petty theft cases but ruled out any gang involvement.
The arrest comes following heightened security checking by police in the city.
This follows rise in crime incidents, including the March 18 shooting of a property dealer in Sector 9, for which the Lucky Patial gang claimed responsibility. Inderjeet Singh Parry, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was also gunned down in his SUV in Sector 26 in December. Because of this, the UT police have now established multiple security checks across entry/exit points and major roads as the accused were previously able to flee the city easily after executing shootings.HTC...
