Mohali, Sept. 3 -- A man allegedly killed his maternal uncle by striking him on the neck with an axe during a drinking session in Derabassi on Wednesday afternoon. The attack severed the victim's head from his body. The deceased has been identified as Kamesar Rai while the accused is his nephew Ramji Rai, a native of Bihar's Sitamarhi district. According to police, several labourers were staying in a room opposite Radha Soami Bhawan. Kamesar and Ramji lived here and worked as labourers. They had an old dispute, which resurfaced during the drinking sessions, following which Ramji allegedly picked up an axe and struck his uncle on the neck, killing him on the spot. Three motorcycle-borne men allegedly attacked a 24-year-old labourer with swords after intercepting him while he was walking with his friend in Todar Majra village near Kharar. A case has been registered against Laddi of Majatri village and his two unidentified accomplices on the statement of the injured man, Gurdeep Singh. Police say an old rivalry is suspected in the case. According to the complaint, Gurdeep was walking home with his friend Ravi after dinner around 9.30pm when the three men, travelling on a Royal Enfield Bullet, stopped them. Laddi allegedly abused Gurdeep, following which one of his accomplices struck him on the back with the blunt side of a sword. Gurdeep ran towards Amarjit Farm to escape, but the accused allegedly followed him inside and repeatedly attacked him with the sword before speeding away. The victim suffered injuries on his legs, arms and wrist. After they left, the victim's friend called an acquaintance who arranged transport to take him to the hospital. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhdev Singh said the case has been registered under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (joint liability) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita....
