Chandigarh, Feb. 26 -- A 58-year-old Haryana government employee died by suicide after jumping from the sixth floor of theHaryana secretariat building in Sector 1, Chandigarh, on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased was serving as a special secretary to an IAS officer. According to police officials, the incident occurred around 12.30 pm. The victim reportedly left his office without informing anyone, went to the sixth floor of the building, and jumped before anyone could intervene. He was rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead. Officials said the victim had allegedly attempted to take his own life in a similar manner last week too. He had reached the seventh floor at the time but was stopped by colleagues and onlookers, who persuaded him not to proceed. A suicide note was recovered from the spot, though police said it did not blame anyone. Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the victim was reportedly unhappy with his recent posting. He was scheduled to retire in October this year. Police have initiated inquest proceedings at the Sector 3 police station and shifted the body to the mortuary at GMSH Sector 16....
