Panchkula, May 31 -- A Panchkula court has sentenced a 40-year-old man to life imprisonment formurdering his wife "for not bearing children" four years into their marriage. The case dates to January 2023 when police received information about the suspicious death of a woman in Abhaypur area of Panchkula. The victim was later identified as Ruby Kumari, a native of Bihar. During the probe, the victim's brother alleged that his sister had been married for around four years and was frequently harassed by her husband, Manoj Kumar, because the couple had no children. He further alleged that Kumar wanted to remarry and often quarrelled with the victim over the issue. Based on the complaint, a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at the Sector 20 police station. After examining crime scene evidence and witnesstestimonies, the court held Kumar guilty for murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment. He was also told to pay a fine of Rs.50,000....
