Panchkula, Aug. 11 -- A 21-year-old man has been awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment for aggravated sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl. According to information, the accused was a tenant at the minor's house. In July 2025, he had taken her out of the house on the pretext of taking her to a temple. Instead, he took her to a neighbourhood park and sexually assaulted her. The case was registered following a complaint from the girl's mother. The court found the man guilty under Section 10 (aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The court awarded him five years jail and Rs.10,000 fine under the POCSO Act. For criminal intimidation, he has been awarded two years jail and Rs.5,000 fine.
