Mohali, Sept. 4 -- Three men allegedly confined a 38-year-old private-sector employee inside a flat in Lohgarh, assaulted him and forcibly transferring Rs.7 lakh through digital transactions. The victim, Pankaj Garg, a resident of Skyland Park on VIP Road, stated that he was at a roadside eatery opposite Metro City Plaza in Lohgarh around 7 pm when the three suspects approached him, striking up a conversation by claiming they were also from Fatehabad. The men then lured him into a flat where he was assaulted. The accused then forced Garg into disclosing the passcodes to his device and UPI applications. Using two credit cards, the suspects transferred approximately Rs.7 lakh via online transactions. Zirakpur police have registered a case against Rajesh Kumar, Tanish, and an unidentified accomplice under Sections 308(5) (extortion by fear of death), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (acts done with common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A resident of Sector 8 in Chandigarh has complained that an unidentified accused induced him into paying Rs.1.30 lakh for issuance of a credit card. An FIR has been registered under Sections 318(4), 319(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said....
