Mohali, Sept. 14 -- Police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly snatching phones, cash and other belongings from pedestrians and motorcyclists after receiving information that he was carrying a scythe and a bag containing weapons and stolen articles in Makrian village in Kharar. ASI Sukhdev Singh of police post Majat, along with head constable Gursewak Singh and constable Sarabjit Singh, were patrolling Makrian area in a police vehicle around 7.30pm when an informant stopped them. The informant told the team that Gursewak Singh alias Lali, a resident of Kotla Dadheri, was walking from the Chunni side towards Makrian and had been targeting people at night. The police team sent a written report to Sadar Kharar police station through constable Sarabjit Singh at 8.10pm and registered an FIR under Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They then set up a checkpoint along the village's peripheral road to intercept the suspect....
