Sangrur, May 1 -- A man allegedly shot dead his father-in-law and brother-in-law after they intervened in an altercation between him and his wife in Sangrur's Shadihari village, police said on Thursday. The accused, identified as Gurwinder Singh, 35, was arrested swiftly, said Dirba DSP Rupinder Kaur Bajwa. A registered medical practitioner, he runs a medical shop in Ubeyan village. The victims, Lakhvir Singh, 72, and his son Jagsir Singh, 29, were both farmers and residents of Rasholi village in Patiala district. According to police,Gurwinder and his wife, Gagandeep Kaur, had a heated argument on April 29, when Kaur summoned her father and brother. As they arrived at their house and tried to intervene, the argument escalated and Gurwinder opened fire at them with his licensed weapon. Acting on a statement by Sinder Kaur, wife of deceased Lakhvir, police booked Gurwinder under Sections 103 (murder) and 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with the Arms Act....
