Kin allege delay in investigation, seek CBI probe
AMRITSAR, April 10 -- Upinder Kaur, widow of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, who died by suicide last month, on Thursday accused the Punjab government of failing to initiate the promised high-level probe and allowing key accused to evade action.
In a statement, she said that despite CM Bhagwant Mann announcing an inquiry led by the chief secretary, no progress has been made even three weeks after her husband's death. She also claimed she has not been contacted by authorities to record her statement.
Randhawa, 45, allegedly consumed celphos at his residence in Amritsar on March 21. Before his death, he recorded a brief video stating he took the step out of fear of AAP leader and former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.
Police registered a case of abetment to suicide against Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Singh and his personal assistant Dilbag Singh. However, only Bhullar has been arrested so far, while the other two accused remain at large.
Raising concerns over the handling of evidence, she claimed crucial material such as mobile phone data and DVR recordings were not secured and alleged possible destruction of evidence.
Kaur also expressed concern over the delay in arresting the remaining accused and alleged that no raids had been conducted to trace them.
She further claimed that other individuals allegedly involved in the incident have neither been identified nor included in the investigation....
