Karnal, April 15 -- Flagging off cleanliness machines and carts worth over Rs.2 crore in Karnal, Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said the municipal corporation was taking several measures towards making the city clean, beautiful and modern. Among such vehicles were a large road sweeping machine worth Rs.76 lakh, two small machines worth Rs.96 lakh and 150 rickshaw carts costing Rs.36 lakh. Five "aspirational" toilets constructed at the cost of Rs.72 lakh and the Sector 13 Gulmohar Park, renovated into Waste-to-Wonder Park, were also formally announced. Khattar hailed officials and local residents for their contribution toward cleanliness and development. Mayor Renu Bala Gupta said that the large sweeping machine had been incorporated under the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal. MLA Jagmohan Anand was also present.
