Khap panchayats to ban hookah at gatherings
Karnal, July 26 -- In a major social reform initiative, khap panchayats from across north India on Saturday resolved to stop the use of hookah at their community gatherings and launched a campaign against vulgar content, gun glorification on social media and drug abuse.
The resolutions were adopted at a North India khap mahapanchayat held at the Meham Chaubisi Chabutra in Rohtak and chaired by Chaubisi Khap president Subhash Goyat. Representatives of several khap panchayats attended the meeting.
Goyat appealed to Haryanvi artistes to stop producing obscene content and warned that those ignoring the agreed norms could face action by the khaps.
Haryanvi singer Ajay Hooda admitted that folk artistes had contributed to the spread of vulgarity and said they had resolved to discourage such content in the name of promoting Haryanvi culture. htc...
