Panchkula, Oct. 13 -- Kalka police have booked two men for allegedly duping a 29-year-old man of Rs.66,000 on the pretext of an investment scheme that promised attractive monthly returns. According to the FIR registered on October 11, complainant Monu Kumar, a resident of Handiya Mohalla, Kalka, alleged that accused Gurpreet and Harpal Singh, both brothers, approached him on August 10, 2024, and persuaded him to invest Rs.66,000 in a scheme. Both accused allegedly promised him a monthly return of Rs.6,000 and assured him that the investment would grow to Rs.2 lakh within 24 months. However, the complainant alleged that he only received Rs.18,000. When he sought the return of his remaining money after learning about an alleged investment racket, the accused allegedly kept postponing repayment, citing different excuses. The complainant alleged that the accused cheated several other people through a similar scheme and sought legal action and recovery of his money. Acting on his complaint, the Kalka police registered an FIR under Sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)....
