Juvenile held for using Balyan murder to spread fear
LUCKNOW, Sept. 19 -- The murder of Haryanvi artist Ankit Balyan was allegedly used by a juvenile to spread fear and public discontent on social media while simultaneously seeking to gain followers.
Balyan was shot dead by four alleged contract killers while he was coming out of a gym in Shamli on August 26. The very next day, an Instagram account named 'kady4n.system' began circulating posts related to the killing. The posts included photographs and videos of Satyam Kadiyan, who was being linked to the murder, police said.
According to police, the content carried misleading information and was capable of creating fear among the victim's family and discontent among the public. A case was registered at the cybercrime police station. Technical analysis of the Instagram account led investigators to the juvenile, who was detained on Thursday. During questioning, the juvenile allegedly admitted to creating the account after Baliyan's murder to attract more followers.
