Jorawar Singh elected Lalru municipal council president
Mohali, June 27 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) consolidated its hold over the Lalru municipal council on Friday with its candidates being unanimously elected to the council's top leadership positions following the party's emphatic victory in the recent civic polls.
Councillor from Ward 6, Jorawar Singh, was unanimously elected president of the council. Harish Madan, councillor from Ward 8, was elected senior vice-president, while Aman Rana, councillor from Ward 4, was chosen as vice-president.
Congratulating the newly elected office-bearers, MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa thanked the electorate of Lalru for giving the AAP a decisive mandate by electing its candidates to 13 of the 17 seats in the council.
Addressing the newly elected councillors, Randhawa said their foremost responsibility was to ensure the town's overall development and provide residents with essential civic amenities, including sanitation, safe drinking water, roads, sewerage and other basic public services without delay. He emphasised that fulfilling the expectations of the people should remain the highest priority of the council and urged the elected representatives to work collectively for the welfare of the town.
