Jind police seize 5kg heroin near Punjab border; two arrested
Rohtak, Aug. 20 -- The Jind police claimed to have busted a drug-smuggling network with the arrest of two alleged narcotics traffickers and said that a recovery of 5.7 kg of heroin was made from them near the Punjab-Haryana border.
The action was carried out by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Jind police in the border area. The accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh and Baljeet, both residents of Narwana.
District police chief Kuldeep Singh, while announcing the seizure at a press conference at his office, described the recovery as a major success in the ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking.
Police are now probing the source of the consignment and its intended destination to establish the wider network behind the trafficking.
The police are preparing to seek a 10-day remand of the two accused to question them about the source of the heroin, persons involved in its procurement and supply chain, and other members of the suspected network.htc...
