BATHINDA, Aug. 5 -- Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj on Tuesday said the highest temporal seat of Sikhs will not hesitate to initiate an action in accordance with the 'Panthic' traditions against anyone who backtracks from commitments after accepting them before it. Addressing a gathering in Bathinda during the culmination of the Miri Piri Khalsa march, Gargaj reiterated that the Aam Aadmi Party government must remove objectionable provisions from the anti-sacrilege legislation pointed out by the Takht and several Sikh bodies. "Until such provisions are withdrawn, the legislation will not be acceptable to the Sikh community," he said. Without naming anyone, Gaibi Gargaj registered his objection to the statements comparing the religious march with political gatherings or supporters of any particular political party. On the occasion, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami said the authority to make panthic decisions rests solely with the Akal Takht. "If this authority begins to shift towards political institutions, it would pose a serious threat to the autonomy of the panth. The community should remain alert to ensure that panthic decisions do not fall into political hands," said the SGPC chief....
