Jalandhar MC razes 'illegal' portion of hotel
Jalandhar, March 18 -- The Jalandhar municipal corporation on Tuesday demolished a portion of the hotel owned by Chopra Hotels Private Limited, an entity associated with the Punjab Kesari group. The demolition was carried out a day after the Punjab and Haryana high court dismissed the petition filed by Chopra Hotels seeking relaxation in the building bylaws.
Jalandhar MC joint commissioner Sumandeep Kaur said the demolition drive was carried out according to the laws, as the canopy of the hotel and outer wall were illegally constructed on the encroached land. "Due notice was served to the concerned party before demolition drive," she said. The group also moved the Jalandhar court against the demolition order, but their petition was dismissed on Tuesday....
