Karnal, March 29 -- Sonepat police on Saturday busted an inter-state extortion gang and arrested five accused for the crime. All the arrested individuals are residents of the Narela area in Delhi. Police recovered illegal weapons, three mobile phones, and two live cartridges from the accused. A police spokesperson said that during the investigation, the 'Abhedya' app had significantly restricted the use of international numbers, forcing criminals to rely on local mobile numbers. Preliminary investigation indicates that the gang operated across states, targeting individuals for extortion.
