India-Oman free trade pact takes effect: Union minister
New Delhi, June 2 -- The India-Oman free trade agreement (FTA) became operational on Monday, giving Indian exporters duty-free access to 99.38% of shipments to the Gulf gateway and East African markets, Union commerce minister Piyush Goyal said.
"The India-Oman CEPA [Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement] marks a defining milestone in India's engagement with Oman and reflects Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of forging trade partnerships that deliver gains for farmers, fishermen, youth, women, entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises," he said.
CEPA was signed on December 18 last year in the presence of PM Modi and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, in Muscat....
