Patiala, June 2 -- Seven Poclain machines involved in illegal mining were seized in Nangal, the Rupnagar district administration said on Monday. A team comprising Nangal SDM Sachin Pathak, CIA inspector Mandeep Singh and eight police personnel conducted raids in Sainsowal, Sawara and Harsa Bela of Nangal and seized six machines late Saturday night. SDM Pathak said that during a separate raid in Swan river area by a team led by mining executive engineer Bhavuk Sharma, a Poclain machine was seized. According to officials, the coordinated action by civil and police authorities came in the wake of several complaints regarding illegal mining activities received over the past few days.
