Panchkula, July 8 -- A month after demolishing illegal shanties built on its prime commercial land in Sector 14, the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has decided to fence its vacant land with barbed wire to prevent fresh encroachments. The authority will spend Rs.4.16 lakh on purchasing barbed wire and fencing vacant plots in Sectors 3, 4, 6 and 7 of Mansa Devi Complex (MDC). The work aims to protect government land from illegal occupation and prevent the re-emergence of encroachments. Officials said the fencing work will begin after the tender is awarded and is expected to be completed within a month. Last month, HSVP carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Sector 14, demolishing several illegal shanties that had come up on its commercial land.
