Hoshiarpur, Oct. 30 -- A man allegedly killed his 17-year-old daughter with a kirpan in Hoshiarpur's Dhoot Kalan village on Thursday. The victim, Inderpreet Kaur, was a Class 12 student at the local government school, police said, adding that the motive behind the crime was not yet known. The accused, Amarjit Singh, fled the scene after the murder. Hariana police have launched an investigation. The victim's mother, Baljit Kaur, told the police that she had gone out to attend to some work when the incident happened. She returned to find Inderpreet lying in a pool of blood. Villagers informed the police. Baljit said her husband had always wanted a son and often vented his frustration on their daughter.
